Happy Halloween!

Well darn.  My Mom didn't get a chance to make the costume she had planned, so I had to wear my costume from last year.  Oh, well. She'll make it for me as soon as possible.  Mom took a picture of me in my costume as soon as I got home from school because it gets dark here so early.

I'm standing on my deck.  Can you see that our leaves are changing?  It got cold here this weekend and we had snow!  Of course, it had rained for most of the day before the snow, so all the snow that fell melted.  I wanted to get a picture of me in the snow.  Oh well, next time.

Here is a picture of the cool goodie that Mom got for all my friends who come by.

See, it is a necklace of skulls.  They come in pink, purple, orange and green.  They were supposed to be bracelets, but Mom thought they worked better as necklaces.
Hope you come by and get one from me tonight!

A Present!

Mom found something fun for me and ordered it.  I got a new sewing machine!  Isn't it great.  Mom loves to sew clothes for me and now I can learn how to sew too.

See, isn't it pretty.  It came in a package like this:

Mom said that is anyone is interested, you can get it at Target.  She got it on Amazon for free shipping.

One last picture.  Here is a look at all the goodies out of the box.  I can't wait to get sewing.

A Day off School!

Yeah!  No school for us today.  There is some teacher conference, so we got the day off school.  How cool is that?

I decided to just hang around the house and play in the morning.  I love to play with my Star Wars figures.   My Mom took this picture of me playing.  See, the Battle Droid is going to shoot Kit Fisto.  Maybe R2-D2 will save the day.

Later, Mom took me to the movies.  We saw the new movie, Johnny English, Reborn.  It was very funny.  Then, we went to the fabric store to get fabric for my Halloween costume.  You'll never guess what I'm going to be.  I'm not going to tell you.  You'll have to wait until Mom finishes sewing it and then I'll show you.

American Girl Doll Store!

My Mom went to the American Girl Doll Store in Washington, D.C. on Sunday.  There was a meet the authors event.  She got to meet Sarah Masters Buckley the author of the Marie-Grace books and Denise Lewis Patrick the author of the Cecile books.  She said they were nice and fun to talk to.

Here is Denise Lewis Patrick signing our poster.

Here are both authors posing with my new sister.  Surprise!  Mom brought home a new sister.  She has to stay in her box until Christmas but Mom got her early to have her signed by the author.  I was sorta hoping for another modern to be my friend.
Mom also brought me home some small surprises.  I'll take a picture of them and show you another day.

Gotta get to my homework.

A Fun Surprise

Because I don't get to go to the American Girl Doll Store tomorrow with my Mom, she took me and the whole family to the Maryland Renaissance Festival.  Wow, did we have a lot of fun!

When we first got to the Faire, I got to meet the Fairy God Mother.  She was really nice.

Here I am outside the Museum of Oddities.  I thought that these skulls were really neat.

I got tired about half way through the day, so Mom carried me in her basket. I had a nice nap.  We also watched some shows, met the Princesses and got knighted.  Mom didn't get a picture of me but I did get a scroll with my name on it.

Before we went home, we found this neat booth where you could pan for rocks.  We found some amethyst, a crystal, and 3 tiger's eyes!  It was the highlight of my day.

I'm pretty tired now, so I'm going to change into my jammies and head off to bed.  Maybe it is a good thing that I get to stay home tomorrow.  I think I'll sleep in.

American Girl Store!

My Mom is going to the new American Girl Doll Store in DC this Sunday.  She is going to see the authors of the new Marie-Grace and Cecile books, Sarah Masters Buckley and Denise Lewis Patrick.  She wants to get her books signed and maybe get a new historical doll, Cecile.

I already have three historical sisters that I don't interact much with since they tend to stay in their time periods.  There is Felicity who is from Colonial Williamsburg at the time of the Revolutionary War.  Then, Josefina who is from the early 1800's in what is now the state of New Mexico, but wasn't a state then.  Cool, huh?  Finally, there is Addy.  She was a slave from the time of the Civil War.  She ran away to freedom and is living in Philadelphia, PA.

I am the only modern girl in our family.  Sometimes I wish for a sister to share modern things with, but then I'd have to share my clothes.

Anyway, I don't get to go to the store this weekend because I have been before.  I was there during the "soft opening" in June.  That is where the store is open for business before the Grand Opening.  When I went I got to have my ears pierced!

Here is a picture of me in the store in June.  Can you guess what I am doing?  Yep, I'm hanging on the hooks in the bathroom.  I just realized that this is the only picture that Mom took of me that day.  She was so excited to be in the store, she forgot to take pictures.  Maybe she'll get some on Sunday and I can post them here!

Bye till then,
Lanie

Apple Picking

Another fun thing I love to do in the fall is go with my family to pick apples and pumpkins.  We always go to a farm in Mt. Airy, Rock Hill Orchards.  Mt. Airy is located about half way between Baltimore and Frederick.

It was a beautiful day this year and we got a lot of apples.

Here I am with a couple that I just picked.  They are Golden Delicious, my favorite kind.

See, I love the apples so much, I started eating this one before we even got home.

They even had a hay ride this year!  I love to be pulled around the farm by a tractor.  It is fun to see all the places that you can't always go.  We saw the new area where you can dig potatos.  Pretty cool, huh?

Before we left, I had to climb one of the apple trees.  Can you see me?  I'm hiding in the shadows.

It was a fun day and I can't believe it is over.  Well, there is always next year!

Do you do anything fun for the fall?

I love the Fall

I love the fall.  It is my favorite season.  The changing leaves are so beautiful and the cool weather is really nice after a hot muggy summer.

One of the things that I love to do in the fall is bake.

Have a happy fall day!
