Life...

Life Happens

Hey!  Sorry it has been a long time since my last post.  I got wrapped up in the end of school with tests and papers due and all that.  Plus, my family took a trip to London, England.  I didn't get to go with them, I had to stay at home and study for finals.  Boo.

Once school let out, my whole family got in the car and headed out to Colorado.  I took some pictures along the way to show you, so there will be some follow up posts to this one.

It was really pretty in Colorado, very green with huge mountains.  We were in Pagosa Springs, Colorado in the south western part of that state.  There were fires around us.  We never saw flames, but there was a lot of smoke and my Mom had trouble breathing due to her asthma.

We went out to Colorado to celebrate my Grandparents 50th Wedding Anniversary!!  They wanted to get their whole family together for a vacation.  Since they had spent their honeymoon in Colorado, this is where they wanted to go.

Do you know that it took us 4 days to drive from Maryland to Colorado?  We stopped a couple of places on the way.  One of them was in Oklahoma City to visit my Uncle and Aunt.  It only took us 3 days to get home, because something bad happened.  Our house was robbed on the day we left to come home so we had to rush home.  Luckily, they weren't interested in my American Girl sisters or our dollhouse.  Also, luckily, they didn't take much, but it was kinda a bummer end to our trip.

Well, I'm looking forward to loading up some pictures to show you.

Bye for now.

A new find

A kind friend told Mom that there were microscopes just my size at Target in the dollar spot.  She ended up checking twice and finally found one and only one, but I got it!  It came in blue plastic, but we didn't like that color, so Mom painted it black with silver accents.  Oops, I see some blue on it still in this picture.  I'll have to go touch that up!

I forgot to take a picture of it before, but here it is done.  I also didn't have anyone around to get a picture of me with it.

I'm excited to get it down into the school room and play with it.

Sewing

Okay, two posts in one day.  Since Mom didn't feel well, she stayed home and sewed for me!  She made me and some of my cousins Harry Potter robes.  She used a pattern that she bought at the Liberty Jane site.  It is by Miche Designs and is a really nice pattern.  Mom really likes Liberty Jane because the patterns fit my slim body so well and she can pay for them and download them instantly.

Here I am in my Gryffindor robe.  Mom did some research and learned that all the robes had a black lining until the third movie and then each house got a lining in it's own color.

See, here I am with my cousins, Kit, Naomi, Lizzie and me.  See, Lizzie is from Ravenclaw, so her robe is blue.  I just noticed that we are all blonds.

Mom got tired of sewing robes, so she took a break to sew me a new holiday dress.  She realized that I didn't have one this year.  This is from another Liberty Jane site pattern.  This pattern is by Heritage 4 and is called "The Wrap Top Dress."  It is a very versitile pattern because if you make it in a pretty cotton, it could be a sundress.  If you make it like Mom does, it is a fancy dress.

Here I am trying on the dress.  It is almost done, but not quite.  See, I have on my pants and loafers.
Mom made this dress before in orange.  This silver one will be nicer for the holiday season.

I'm really glad that my Mom sews.  I get some really neat clothes.

Do any of you have some pattern suggestions?

SNOW!

Wow, It's been a long time since I posted.  Mom got really sick over the holidays.  She had bronchitis and a sinus infection.  Luckily, she is better now.  I'm going to see if she'll post our holiday photos later in the week.

Now, on to the exciting news.  It snowed here!!  Okay, we only got about 1 1/2 inches of snow, but after the weird weather we've had, I'll take whatever I can get.  Of course, it came on Saturday so we didn't lose a day of school.  Bummer.

Here I am outside.  This is my fancy dress up coat, but it is the only one I have for right now.  It was cold outside.

I climbed up on the block wall.  You can see how much snow we got.

Trip to Williamsburg.

My Mom sometimes goes to the Williamsburg Grand Illumination on the first weekend in December.  She wasn't able to stay for the fireworks this year, but because of that, I got to go!  Of course, I had to go with my sister Felicity.  Since it is her hometown, she gets to go everytime.

See, here I am at the entrance sign at the Visitor Center.  I am so small because the sign is sooo big.  It was cool on Saturday, so I didn't have to wear a jacket, but I did wear my new winter sweater, my favorite brown cords, and a new hat Mom made for me that matches my cords exactly.

Here I am in Williamsburg.  We are near the Capitol building.  We had just finished going through an old house.  Mom does this house tour where private homes are open just for this one day.  We met the Master Shoemaker of Williamsburg in his house and heard his daughters play the harp.

You can almost see the Capitol building behind me.  I love to climb trees and this one was too hard to resist.  Next stop is the Apple House.  There are holes in the bricks on the front of the building and they put apples in them at Christmastime.  I forgot to get a picture.

Here is my sister, Felicity.  She meets up with her friend George here once a year.  I think they have a thing going on, but she denies it.  They do look good together.

Almost at the end of the day, we saw the Fife and Drum Corp playing and marching down Duke of Gloucester Street.  We watched them and then followed them to the Governor's Palace.  They were sure loud but it was fun and everyone was so excited.  I really loved marching along behind them, like in a big parade.

This horse was outside on of the houses on the home tour.  The Garden Club ladies had done it.  Felicity was so excited she had to jump on board.  It wasn't even Penny, it was just a grapevine horse!  This was outside a really neat house located just down from the Governor's Palace.  Upstairs, they owners had done up a little girl's room to look just like Felicity's.  They even had a full sized bed!  It was really cool.

It was a long day, and a lot of walking.  Felicity got tired and took a nap while we were waiting.  Isn't she silly.  Maybe lugging those heavy skirts around all day will tire you out.  I just can't convince her to try on pants.

Since we were so tired, we went to the Abby Aldridge Rockefeller center.  They had a children's craft.  I got to make some dolls out of clothespins.  Pretty cute, huh?

Well, that was my day.  Hope you enjoyed it, I sure did.  I really learned a lot about Colonial History and I hope to come back some day.  Lucky Felicity comes all the time.

A new hat!

Sorry I haven't written in awhile.  I was busy getting my science fair project ready to turn in.  It was due on Friday the 18th and I finally got it done.  Phew.  Luckily, I have the whole week of school off before Thanksgiving so I can relax before having to go back to school.

My Mom was so happy that I finished with my science fair project that she made me a new hat.  She got this new pattern from McCalls that has a hat pattern, purse patterns, boots, skirts, etc.  It is made to look like Liberty Jane patterns.  Now, Mom prefers Liberty Jane patterns, but she is always willing to give another pattern a chance, especially since it only cost $.99.  Enough build up... Here is my new hat!

Mom is going to make me another one to match my favorite pair of brown cords.  Plus she said she might try one of the purses.  I'm gonna be so stylish when I go back to school next Monday.

Happy Halloween!

Well darn.  My Mom didn't get a chance to make the costume she had planned, so I had to wear my costume from last year.  Oh, well. She'll make it for me as soon as possible.  Mom took a picture of me in my costume as soon as I got home from school because it gets dark here so early.

I'm standing on my deck.  Can you see that our leaves are changing?  It got cold here this weekend and we had snow!  Of course, it had rained for most of the day before the snow, so all the snow that fell melted.  I wanted to get a picture of me in the snow.  Oh well, next time.

Here is a picture of the cool goodie that Mom got for all my friends who come by.

See, it is a necklace of skulls.  They come in pink, purple, orange and green.  They were supposed to be bracelets, but Mom thought they worked better as necklaces.
Hope you come by and get one from me tonight!
